Pine Bark (Pinus maritime)
Description:
Pine bark extract is made from the bark of maritime pine, whose
scientific name is Pinus maritima. Researchers have termed the
group of antioxidants found in pine bark extract oligomeric
proanthocyanidins (OPCs). OPCs are some of the most powerful
antioxidants available.
In France, pine bark extract and OPCs have been rigorously tested
for safety and effectiveness, and pine bark extract is a registered
drug.
Uses: These uses have been tested in humans or animals. Safety and
effectiveness have not always been proven. Some of these conditions

Safety:
OPCs is generally considered safe. Use cautiously with bleeding
disorders, diabetes or other disorders that affect blood sugar
levels. Avoid if pregnant or breastfeeding due to a lack of
scientific data.
Possible side effects:
Pine bark extract has been extensively tested for safety, and no
dangerous side effects have been observed with its use.
Possible interactions:
Blood pressure-lowering drugs, drugs that affect blood sugar levels
(like insulin), drugs that increase the risk of bleeding
(anticoagulants), drugs that affect the immune system,
antioxidants.
Dosing:
For prevention and general health, a daily dosage of 50 mg~100mg
For treatment of health conditions: 300mg~500mg, depending on the
advice of a physician and the specific condition.
